De Artramentis inks have been handmade in Germany since 1995. I first came across them in 2010 when I stumbled across the excellent but now sadly closed Art Browns pen shop in mid-town Manhattan, New York. I regret not buying some inks then but I was travelling so didn’t want to carry bottles of ink. I have bought a few De Artramentis inks since and think they are very good, surprisingly they don’t seem to be shown much love amongst the FP community on IG, maybe its just the people I follow ro the fact they are not the cheapest of inks (approx NZ$1 per ml). The only bottle of ink I have ever emptied was a bottle of De Artramentis aubergine.

KWZ inks were first made in 2012 and come from Poland. KWZ was originally known for its iron gall inks (which are very good) but has rapidly progressed with colours and various different ink properties. Sheening inks have been really popular since Organics Studio hit the market with their super sheening inks in 2016. KWZ had its first foray into sheening inks in late 2019 with Sheen Machine1 (SM1) which was followed quickly in early 2020 with sheen machine 2 (SM2).
I started by thinking this was called Air Corp Blue Black because it is a blue-black similar to the colour of many military uniforms but keeping in mind the picture on the bottles of Noodlers inks usually tells a story there had to be more to the name.
Golden Ivy both a bright and a dark green at the same time. All roads lead me to believe golden ivy is another name for devils ivy because everytime I google golden ivy devils ivy comes up.
This is an updated review of this ink. I first reviewed it in August 2020 and was less than complimentary. The ink manufacturing for the company was at one time outsourced, I reviewed an outsourced ink. Now that manufacturing is in house I took the plunge and tried again and am glad I did so feel the ink needs an updated review.
I have a number of grey inks but think this is only the second I have reviewed. Everytime I look at grey inks I wonder when is grey grey?
This is an ink from Herbins essential collection. The name sounds romantic in French, in English it translates to Burmese Amber
This is the first ink that came from a collaboration between reddit fountain pen users and Diamine, released in 2017. Other inks are aurora borealis from 2019 and this years ink - writers blood. Earl grey was my first grey ink and its a lovely silver grey with some shade.
It has been a couple of months since I reviewed an ink – work and other commitments left no time. Todays ink is Uguisu from Taccia. An ink I have been using a lot the last few days.
Taccia inks are made in Japan the pens come from the USA. |
